Premier League misfit Felipe Anderson “can’t wait” to leave West Ham United and has his heart set on securing the number seven shirt at Serie A giants Lazio, as reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi.

If any player at the London Stadium summed up the transition from the Manuel Pellegrini era to the David Moyes one, it’s Anderson.

While Pellegrini was willing to take the rough with the smooth, tolerating the Brazilian’s lack of work rate as long as he was pulling rabbits out of the hat at the other end of the pitch, Moyes saw things very differently.

An old-school tactician who demands blood, sweat and tears from every one of his players, the fact Moyes put his trust in the hard-working Pablo Fornals while farming Anderson out to Porto spoke volumes about his approach to the beautiful game.

And as long as Moyes is sticking around – the Scot signed a new contract recently while turning down a return to Everton – one of West Ham’s most expensive signings will be out in the cold.

Would West Ham fans mourn an Anderson exit?

Anderson enjoyed arguably the best season of his career at Lazio in 2018/19, those dazzling displays encouraging West Ham to invest an eye-watering £36 million to secure his signature.

And, according to reports coming out of Rome, the 28-year-old is desperate to secure a return to his old stomping ground.

Anderson has told his representatives to make that dream a reality, with his former Lazio teammates insisting the winger would be welcomed with open arms in the Biancocelesti dressing room.

Anderson has his heart set on reclaiming his old number seven shirt too – one that’s currently waiting to be filled.

There’s still work to be done, however, with West Ham demanding £7 million for Anderson’s signature. As it stands, Lazio are unwilling to pay more than £4 million, although you’d think a compromise could be reached before long.

Another of Anderson’s former clubs, Santos, have already ruled themselves out of the race, insisting the winger is simply too expensive.
