West Ham and Palace to miss out as Serhou Guirassy reportedly agrees Rennes move

According to L’Equipe, reported West Ham United and Crystal Palace target Serhou Guirassy has agreed to join Rennes from fellow French side Amiens.

The talented striker has been heavily linked with an exit from Amiens this summer.

The global health crisis prompted the French season to end early, and Amiens were subsequently relegated despite Guirassy netting an impressive nine goals for the side.

Amiens president Bernard Joannin was realistic in his side’s chances of retaining Guirassy, and he told ButFootballClub of interest from both Palace and West Ham.

“To the French interest, we can also add Crystal Palace and West Ham,” Joannin remarked.

But the Premier League duo are now set to miss out on his signature.

According to L’Equipe, Rennes have struck a deal for him at around £18 million. The 24-year-old will sign a five-year deal with his medical scheduled.

Rennes benefited from the season ending early as they rather surprisingly qualified for the Champions League, boosting the club’s finances and market position this summer.

Guirassy has an abundance of potential and represents a fine deal for the club.

West Ham, meanwhile, will have to focus on other targets while manager David Moyes may prefer to see the Hammers prioritise strengthening the midfield area.

Palace, on the other hand, are desperate for new firepower. The Eagles finished as the second lowest scorers in the Premier League last time, only ahead of Norwich City.

A new striker will surely now be Roy Hodgson’s top priority after closing in on a deal for Queens Park Rangers creative attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.
