West Ham United and Newcastle United are both in desperate need of new recruits this month.

West Ham boss David Moyes and Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez have admitted they are keen to add more quality to their teams, particularly in midfield.
The Hammers are woefully short of midfield options while the Magpies failed to win for nine games until a recent mini revival and know they need quality going into the business end of the season.
West Ham have been linked with a host of midfielders including Steven N’Zonzi, William Carvalho, Joe Allen and Newcastle’s own Jonjo Shelvey.

But Moyes and indeed Benitez, should jump at the rare chance to sign legendary Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder who has been told he can leave Nice this month.
Sneijder, who is described by L’Equipe as a ‘serious flop since his arrival in Ligue 1’, is reportedly attracting interest from MLS but West Ham and Newcastle could do a lot worse than lean on his vast experience, knowledge and quality, particularly from set pieces – which are such a big factor for both teams.

At 33, Sneijder could make the ideal short term signing with the added incentive for the player of an extra year if he proves a success.
With 19 major honours and over 130 caps for Holland, the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan playmaker knows all about winning.
And that’s something the Hammers and Magpies need to get used to if they want to stay in the Premier League.
