Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is reportedly in line to join West Ham United in the summer.

A number of West Ham and Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports from The Sun over the weekend which suggested that the Hammers are finally set to sign Jonjo Shelvey at the end of the season.
Shelvey has been a key player throughout his time with the Magpies, but he now finds himself in a situation where there is no guarantee that he will immediately find his way back into Rafa Benitez’s side following his return from injury.
Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden had been exceptional together in recent weeks. Longstaff picked up an injury in Newcastle’s defeat at the London Stadium on Saturday, but Shelvey is not Benitez’s only option as he looks to decide who comes in and replaces the youngster.
And should Shelvey not make his return anytime soon, perhaps that may add fuel to the rumours that he may be on the move at the end of the campaign.

The Sun reports that the Hammers look set to make another move for the 27-year-old in the summer having failed to complete a deal in January, and the path could be left clear for a £20 million transfer to go through.
A decent section of the West Ham fans on social media however, seem to hope that there is nothing in the rumours. Some believe that he has never realised his full potential – he has not scored and provided only one assist in the Premier League this year – and thus, would not improve Manuel Pellegrini’s options.

Meanwhile, the Newcastle fans appear to be much more divided. The prospect of making £20 million for Shelvey is tempting several to say that selling could be the right decision, but others believe that he would leave big shoes to fill.
