Brighton and Hove Albion are making plans to sign goalkeeper Mathew Ryan, according to The World Game.

Australian international Ryan plans for Valencia and has been on loan at Belgian side Racing Genk this season.

Brighton are looking for a new goalkeeper with David Stockdale tipped to leave the club with his contract running down despite helping them clinch promotion.

The Argus reported this week Stockdale’s future remains in doubt, and the goalkeeper added to those rumours with a tweet which suggested he may be saying goodbye.

The Mirror reported at the end of last month Leeds United are plotting a move for the stopper to move to his hometown club, with The Mail linking him to West Ham.

The Sun also tout him for a move to Chelsea to back up Thibaut Courtois.

Stockdale clearly has options and reports he could sign an extension with the Seagulls now seem premature.

If Brighton pursue Mathew Ryan, who has more than 30 international caps for Australia, then it is an indication Stockdale is departing.
