West Ham United manager David Moyes is keen on signing Manchester United defender Harry Maguire and Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse this summer.
According to a report from The Independent, the West Ham boss is intent on bringing Harry Maguire and James Ward-Prowse to the London Stadium before the transfer window closes. However, there is a problem.
The same outlet claims that the Hammers’ recruitment team want to add more longer-term options to the squad.
Maguire is now into his 30s, while Ward-Prowse turns 29 in November, so they are certainly not the youngest names on the market right now.
Still, the England duo are not exactly the oldest either, so perhaps Moyes will eventually be able to get West Ham’s recruitment team on board.

You would not blame Moyes if he felt disappointed with how this transfer window has gone for his club so far.
The east London outfit sold their captain Declan Rice to Arsenal last month for £105m and are yet to reinvest any of that money into new signings.
The season starts next week. Their lack of activity in the market is very surprising, especially after Rice’s departure.
Moyes can also be disappointed with the fact that there are doubts about his transfer targets. The Scotsman may very well feel that he should be trusted after what he was able to accomplish last term.
Under his guidance, West Ham were able to win the Europa Conference League. After such an achievement, you would have thought that Moyes would have been significantly backed.
For whatever reason, that has not happened yet.
All in all, if the 60-year-old wants Maguire and Ward-Prowse, the Premier League club should be trying hard to sign the two England players, with there obviously being money there for them to spend.
