West Ham want Alphonse Areola permanently and could sign the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper for around £7.7million this week.
The Hammers enjoyed another strong season under David Moyes and came agonisingly close to two achievements.
West Ham lost in the Europa League semi-finals to eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt before narrowly missing out on the Premier League top six too.
That means Europa League Conference League football for West Ham next season and Moyes will be keen on adding new signings.
West Ham want Alphonse Areola permanently
Fabrizio Romano has now taken to Twitter to claim that West Ham are closing in on Alphonse Areola.
Romano claims that West Ham are prepared to pay the €9million (£7.7million) buy option in Areola’s loan deal.
West Ham are allegedly planning for Areola to be in their squad next season and talks with his agent will take place in the coming days.
Areola, 29, spent this past season on loan but made just one Premier League appearances.
The French stopper was stuck behind Lukasz Fabianski but served as West Ham’s cup goalkeeper.
With Fabianski now 37, Areola may be seen as the long-term heir between the sticks.

Areola has been hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Mark Noble and he equipped himself very well whenever called upon in the cup or in Europe.
£7.7million sounds like an absolute bargain for Areola and exactly the kind of deal Moyes will love.
Areola may not be the only signing for West Ham this week though as Moyes is chasing another deal with a French club.
Reports claim that Moyes hopes to have a £17million deal done for Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd this week.
What would be around £25million on two signings and altogether very good business for West Ham as they look to progress again next season.
