The West Ham United defender has improved drastically over the past month.
West Ham ace Ryan Fredricks sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and admitted that he initially found it hard to adapt to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer, after his contract expired with Fulham, and he has gone on to make 12 appearances in all competitions for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
The right-back suffered a serious injury earlier on in the campaign, and that undoubtedly hampered his progress at the London Stadium, but he seems to have found his best form in recent weeks.
Fredericks spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and suggested that he has rediscovered his confidence recently, highlighting how he now understands what the West Ham boss expects of him:
“It took a while for me to get used to the Premier League. At the start, I was probably more thinking about going on the pitch and not making any mistakes and that was causing me not to play my normal game. Since I’ve come back from injury and into the team, I’ve felt more confident on the pitch and more confident around the lads and I know what the gaffer wants from me.”
West Ham are currently in a real scrap for the Europa League spots, and Fredericks will have a key role to play over the next couple of months, as his side try to force their way inside the top seven.
