West Ham United have been nowhere near their best this season.
West Ham ace Felipe Anderson spoke exclusively to the club’s official website in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing 4-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, and admitted that the result made him and his teammates feel very sad.
The Hammers have made a totally underwhelming start to their Premier League campaign, and currently sit in 14th spot in the table, having taken a meagre 12 points from their opening 13 league outings.
When Manuel Pellegrini took over at the London Stadium in the summer, many predicted that West Ham would make a real push for the top seven this season, but that doesn’t seem like it will be the case.
Anderson spoke to reporters after his side’s heavy defeat to City, and admitted that the result made him and his teammates very sad, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“Certainly, we are going through a rough patch, but we think that we can play well and get the results we need. Unfortunately, Saturday’s result made us sad, but I think that by working hard and being patient we can achieve better results and we’ll be able to show that we’re good enough.”
Whilst West Ham will certainly not be judged on their results against Manchester city this season, they must start picking up positive results sooner rather than later, if they are to enjoy a successful campaign.
What would constitute a successful season for the Hammers, though?
Surely after their start, a top 10 finish would be an admirable achievement, but it is unlikely that the West Ham fans will be overjoyed wit that.
