Vladimir Coufal has indicated that he may look to leave West Ham United if things don’t change under David Moyes, while telling Football Club that he would prefer to stay in the Premier League than move abroad.

An almost guaranteed starter not so long ago, Coufal went into the World Cup break having been left on the bench for six of West Ham’s last eight league matches.

The Czech Republic international, according to The Times, has lost the trust of his manager. As such, Moyes is unlikely to stand in his way should Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen step up their interest during the January transfer window.

“I went to ask (why I’m not playing so much anymore). But they couldn’t tell me anything about it,” Coufal explains. “That’s football. Sometimes you play, sometimes you don’t.”

Vladimir Coufal could leave West Ham United with Bundesliga move on the cards

When pressed on whether or not he is currently ‘in talks to leave West Ham in 2023’, the former Slavia Prague stopper admitted that his patience only stretches so far. Should he remain second or even third choice behind Thilo Kehrer and Ben Johnson, Coufal will not waste any time in looking for a new challenge.

“If the situation that occurred during the autumn were to continue, something will definitely be resolved and is being resolved. I don’t want to sit on the bench here as much as in the autumn,” Coufal adds; indicating that he would be open to the idea of leaving West Ham for another top-flight club.

“If possible, I would like to stay in England. The Premier League is the best league in the world. And if I were to speculate, I would also be tempted by the Bundesliga.

“You never know what can happen when the transfer window opens.”

Coufal’s current contract expires at the end of this season. West Ham can, however, trigger a clause in the 30-year-old’s deal. One that would tie him down for a further 12 months at the London Stadium.

90Min, meanwhile, believe that the Hammers see Celtic’s Croatian international Josip Juranovic as a potential replacement. Leeds youngster Cody Drameh is another option (TEAMtalk).
