The West Ham United youngster endured a torrid time at Anfield last weekend.

West Ham youngster Declan Rice sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and outlined how hard he has been working in training this week, in an effort to bounce back from the nightmare start he endured at Liverpool last weekend.

The 19-year-old was hooked at half-time at Anfield, and that would have been extremely hard to swallow for someone so young.

Rice is a strong-willed character, however, and he won’t let one bad performance affect the rest of his season, that much is certain.

The Irishman spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and highlighted how important it will be for him and his teammates to bounce back against Bournemouth on Saturday:

“Liverpool was a really tough game, we know that, and we’re all training hard. For me, personally, I came off at half-time at Anfield. It was a tough game and I know I can play better than I showed. I’ve been training really well this week and we’ve got two more sessions until Saturday’s game. I just want to keep improving and keep showing the manager that I’m the right man to play. It’s really important that we bounce back in a way that is pleasing for the home fans this Saturday against Bournemouth. We want to succeed this weekend and get our first three points on the table.”

West Ham will be desperate to get their season up and running with a win over the Cherries on Saturday, but that will be easier said than done against Eddie Howe’s impressive looking side.

All eyes will be on Rice, and he, more than anyone else, will be keen to show that he has already forgotten about Sunday’s nightmare showing on Merseyside.
