The West Ham United youngster made his first ever start for the club on Wednesday night.

West Ham youngster Ben Johnson spoke to reporters after he made his senior debut for the club against Manchester City on Wednesday night, and shared what Manuel Pellegrini told him in the build-up to the match, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 19-year-old right-back seems to be the real deal, and he could be the latest in a long line of talented youngsters who have made the jump up to the first-team from the youth squad.
Johnson did not seem out of his depth at all on Wednesday night, and West Ham seem as though they have a really exciting young player on their hands.
The teenager spoke to reporters after Wednesday night’s game, and explained how Manuel Pellegrini informed him that he would be starting the day before the match, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“I was on the bench for the game at Manchester City last season, but this season I felt I was ready to play and the Gaffer told me I would the day before. He said ‘don’t worry, just enjoy’.”
It remains to be see whether Johnson will be given many more opportunities by Pellegrini this season, but following his display at the Etihad, there is no reason why he cannot really kick on and prove his worth between now and May.
