Everton have been an ever-present club in the Premier League, but now, they’re staring relegation to the Championship in the face.
The Toffees’ loss to Burnley on Wednesday has put them well and truly in the mix to go down, and with a tough run of fixtures coming up, it looks like we could be seeing Championship football at Goodison Park next season.
It wasn’t too long ago that Everton were playing in the Europa League, and with that in mind, we’re going to look at where the last XI Everton fielded in that competition are right now.
GK: Joel Robles – Real Betis

Everton played a rotated team in their last Europa League game against Apollon Limassol in 2017, and Joel Robles started between the sticks that day.
The Spaniard was Everton’s number two for a number of years, and these days, he’s fulfilling that same role at Real Betis.
It’s fair to say that Betis are having a much better season than Everton, the Seville-based outfit sit 5th in La Liga and are pushing for a Champions League spot under Manuel Pellegrini.
RB: Beni Baningime – Hearts

Beni Baningime started at right-back against Apollon on that night, but these days, he’s playing as a central midfielder for Hearts up in Scotland.
The Congolese 23-year-old has started 23 games for the Edinburgh outfit this term.
CB: Morgan Feeney – Carlisle United

Another Everton youngster who has since dropped down a level, Morgan Feeney has spent the majority of this season battling relegation with Carlisle United.
The 23-year-old won the hearts of United fans earlier this season by scoring a vital 94th minute winner against Oldham Athletic in a true relegation six-pointer in League Two.
CB: Mo Besic – Ferencvaros

Mo Besic was mainly a midfielder for Everton, but he played as a centre-half in this game.
The Bosnian has since spent time out on loan at Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, but he’s eventually found his way back to Hungary with Ferencvaros – the side Everton purchased him from back in 2014.
LB: Harry Charsley – Port Vale

Undoubtedly the poshest name in the Football League, Henry William James, or simply, Harry, Charsley is currently turning out for Port Vale.
Just like Baningime, Charsley played at full-back in this game, but these days, he’s more of a midfielder.
It’s a wonder how Everton managed to win this match 3-0 with so many players out of position.
CM: Davy Klaassen – Ajax

Davy Klaassen arrived at Everton with huge expectations back in 2017, but seven league appearances and one year later, he was gone.
Like Besic, Klaassen has since found his way back to his pre-Everton club, Ajax, where he’s back playing his best football.
He scored 12 league goals last term, and he’s netted a further six this season for the Dutch giants.
CM: Morgan Schneiderlin – Nice

Another player who arrived at Goodison Park with high expectations, Morgan Schneiderlin didn’t quite live up to his billing on Merseyside.
Schneiderlin had a more than respectable Premier League career, and he even earned 15 caps for France during his time at Southampton and Manchester United.
These days, he’s playing for Nice, and he could be back playing in the Champions League next term if results go his way between now and May.
LW: Ademola Lookman – Leicester City

Ademola Lookman was one of Everton’s brightest young stars around this point in time, but he was eventually sold to RB Leipzig, where he remains on the books to this day.
Over the last two seasons, Lookman has been back in the Premier League on loan at both Fulham and Leicester City where he has looked very handy in spells.
Lookman netted a brace against Apollon in this match, and he could come back to haunt Everton later this season as the Toffees still have to face Leicester on two occasions.
RW: Nikola Vlasic – West Ham United

Picked ahead of a certain Anthony Gordon on the right-wing in this game. Nikola Vlasic is the only player in this XI who remains in this season’s Europa League.
Vlasic left Everton for CSKA Moscow, but it didn’t take long for West Ham to bring him back to the Premier League.
The Croatian’s West Ham side face Lyon in the quarter-finals as they look to continue their fantastic run in this competition.
AM: Kevin Mirallas – Moreirense

One of Everton’s better players throughout the 2010s, Kevin Mirallas has played in five different countries since his last game for Everton.
He’s had spells on loan with Fiorentina and Olympiakos, before permanent moves to Royal Antwerp, Gazientep in Turkey and eventually Portuguese side Moreirense.
At the age of 34, the Belgian is still going strong.
ST: Fraser Hornby – Reims

6 ft 5 striker Fraser Hornby is currently over in France playing for Reims.
The striker is clearly not scared to spread his wings. At the age of just 22, he’s played in four different countries.
Unfortunately, his time with Everton didn’t work out, but there’s still plenty of time for the former Scotland U21 international to make his mark in this sport.
