West Ham United want Aaron Wan-Bissaka and suddenly have hope of pulling off a very late move for the Manchester United defender.
David Moyes has been strengthening his back line piece by piece this summer.
A goalkeeper, two centre backs and a left back have all arrived with Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd, Thilo Kehrer and Emerson Palmieri all arriving.
Moyes may now look for another right back, given that Vladimir Coufal has suffered a dip in form after making such a huge impact at first.
Kehrer can play at right back but Moyes may want a natural there – and he could chase a player from former club Manchester United.
West Ham United want Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Sky Sports report that West Ham and Crystal Palace both want United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
It’s stated that a deal could be on the cards with Manchester United exploring a late deal to sign Barcelona right back Sergino Dest.
Should United reunite Dest with his former boss Erik ten Hag, then Wan-Bissaka may be allowed to leave United after all.
This comes after The Athletic reported that West Ham had seen an approach for Wan-Bissaka snubbed.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth even went on air to claim that West Ham have ‘received a bit of encouragement’ over a potential deal for Wan-Bissaka.
It’s clear that Wan-Bissaka just isn’t to Ten Hag’s liking, with Diogo Dalot starting every Premier League game for United so far this season.
Wan-Bissaka certainly would get into the team if Dest arrives and a loan move to try and get his career back on track could be ideal.
United paid a huge £50million to sign Wan-Bissaka from Palace back in 2019, believing that he would become their right back of the future.
Three years on and Wan-Bissaka has shown his ability as a 1v1 defender, but his lack of attacking ability has really ruined his time at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old has turned out 127 times for United but it’s clear that the Red Devils are now looking for a different type of right back having targeted Dest.
A move to West Ham – and therefore a return to London – should appeal to Wan-Bissaka, where expectation may not be quite as crippling and he would have the chance to go straight in over Coufal at the London Stadium.
