West Bromwich Albion winger James McClean plans to end his career at Derry City.
West Bromwich Albion winger James McClean has told RTE Radio’s Sunday Sport that he wants to end his professional career at Derry City.
McClean was on the books of Derry from 2008 until 2011 when he made the move to Sunderland.
The Republic of Ireland international joined Wigan Athletic in 2013 and switched to West Brom in the summer of 2015.
The winger’s current contract with the Baggies runs until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

McClean has revealed that he wants to end his professional career at Derry.
“Derry is where I started and that’s where I would like to end my career,” McClean told RTE Radio’s Sunday Sport. “It’s a club that holds a special place in my heart.
“On the day I left Derry City to join Sunderland I said it’s the place I want to end my career. Hopefully they’ll have me.”
McClean is a good player and has proved himself in the Premier League, and the Republic of Ireland winger still has a few more years left at the top level.

It is great that the 27-year-old wants to end his professional career at Derry, and one suspects that the club would welcome him back.
West Brom are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with 20 points from 14 matches.
Tony Pulis’s side will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge in London in the Premier League.
