James McClean has said on social meadia website Twitter that he is ashamed to have ever played for Sunderland.

The winger, who is now at West Bromwich Albion, represented Sunderland for two years between 2011 and 2013.

And McClean seemingly does not reflect well on the time he spent at the Stadium of Light.

McClean made 70 appearances for Sunderland in total, and scored 11 times.

He was then sold to Wigan Athletic in 2013, and moved to West Brom two years later.

McClean is now a regular in Albion’s first-team, and he also is a key player for his country, the Republic of Ireland.

McClean has become a vilified player among some supporters in England, over his refusal to wear a poppy.

Sunderland could do with a player of the 28-year-old’s quality right now though, as the Wearsiders are currently sat in the relegation zone in the Championship table.
