West Bromwich Albion are said to be chasing Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier.

West Brom made a move for the Rangers full-back, but deemed his asking price to be too high.
However, the Baggies did have a belief that they could have got the Rangers man for £4 million.
That seems like misplaced confidence, when judging by Gerrard’s comments just earlier this week.
“I want James Tavernier here as long as I’m here,” Gerrard said to Sky Sports.
“He’s a leader and a very likeable guy in the dressing room. People respect him. He’s been through a lot of turbulence in his time at the club but handled it very well. That’s why I gave him the armband.”
Tavernier, therefore, seems like a player that Rangers would value at far higher than £4 million.

The Ibrox side are under no pressure to sell, and have previously rejected big money bids for Alfredo Morelos.
And West Brom seem to have made the right choice to look elsewhere rather than going after Tavernier, as the Rangers defender may have been a more expensive purchase than they anticipated.
