According to a report in The Birmingham Mail, West Bromwich Albion would be unwilling to meet Bournemouth’s £10 million valuation for Wolverhampton Wanderers-linked Benik Afobe.

Sky Sports reported this week that West Brom and Wolves are going head-to-head for the out-of-form striker, who is yet to score in 17 Premier League appearances this season – only five of those were from the start.

Both sides need a centre-forward option, albeit for different reasons.

Albion arguably need an upgrade on Solomon Rondon to enhance their chances of staying in the Premier League, while Wolves need an alternative to the out-of-form Leo Bonatini to consolidate their promotion bid, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side top of the Championship.

But it looks like the ball might be in Wanderers’ court after The Birmingham Mail claim that West Brom wouldn’t stump up the money for Afobe and stated that Alan Pardew is only in the market for loan deals at the moment.

The former Arsenal hitman previously scored 22 goals in 44 Championship games for Wolves and therefore might be receptive to re-joining the Molineux side this month.

It remains to be seen if they have £10 million to spend, but if they’re the only club willing to buy him outright then the Cherries might accept a lower amount.
