The Daily Star recently claimed that Premier League side West Ham have offered £10 million to Championship side West Brom for their striker Salomon Rondon.
The offer doesn’t stop there because it seemingly looks like the Hammers have thrown their out-of-favour stars Jordan Hugill and Sam Byram into the mix. But yet Albion have reportedly rejected the offer.
If this type of offer was made to another team in England’s top-flight then it would be understandable as to why the offer would be rejected, but the Midlands outfit are daft to do so as a Championship club.
The transfer offer from West Ham is a pretty sensational one and it’s one they should be accepting. Rondon wasn’t part of West Brom’s set-up last season because he was on-loan at Newcastle yet they still managed to score a flurry of goals and finish in the play-off places.
Yes, Dwight Gayle played a big part in that, and he has since returned to Newcastle, but Jay Rodriguez is still there, and a player like him could work wonders with someone like Hugill.
Plus, Rondon is 29-years-old and he’s not going to have a very high transfer value on his head because of his age, even in this quite hectic, chaotic and inflated transfer market.
The other player offered was right-back Byram, who previously enjoyed a successful spell at Nottingham Forest before his struggles in the Premier League with West Ham.
Once again, Albion are in need of a right-back and Byram would be more than capable of performing for a team that wants to earn promotion. Not forgetting that it was Bilic who bought him to the London Stadium, so he will be very well known to him.
West Brom get to the fill two areas with this offer, and with it, they seemingly get £10 million on top, which if used wisely, can bring you great success. Surely, something that has to be accepted, unless the club thinks there are better offers/players available and Rondon is worth a lot more.
