West Bromwich Albion fans aren’t convinced that Troy Deeney is the answer to their problems this season.

According to The Daily Mail, West Brom are willing to pay £25 million to sign the 29-year-old Watford striker.

Albion have only found the net on five occasions since Alan Pardew replaced Tony Pulis and it’s clear that the Baggies – who sit 19th in the Premier League – need a goalscorer.

But Deeney has only managed 24 goals in 90 top-flight games for the Hornets – and 11 of those were penalties.

Consequently, some fans of The Hawthorns club on Twitter aren’t overly enthusiastic about signing the physical forward

West Brom fans are right. Deeney, for that price, is an outrageous prospect and Pardew can get far better goalscorers for £25 million.

Based on his goalscoring stats for Watford, is he really going to fire Albion to safety? It’s unlikely. They already have a non-goalscoring striker in Solomon Rondon and they don’t need another.
