West Bromwich Albion beat Aston Villa to the signing of Sam Johnstone this summer, but the goalkeeper did little to impress on debut.

West Bromwich Albion may have beaten Aston Villa to the signing of Sam Johnstone, but the new signing didn’t enjoy the best of debuts at the Hawthorns.
Johnstone immediately became a favourite at West Brom after he moved to them instead of Villa this summer.
However, the stopper’s debut did not go according to plan, as Albion were shocked by Bolton Wanderers.
Johnstone looked shaky in his first appearance for the Baggies, as West Brom lost 2-1.
And the initial reaction the former Villa goalkeeper’s has not been positive from the West Brom crowd.
Johnstone actually made a slow start at Villa, before he became an integral part of their first team.
The England youth international grew into his role at Villa Park, and is proven quality in the Championship.
West Brom will be hoping to bounce back from opening day defeat, as Darren Moore’s side are one of the favourites to be promoted this season.
