West Bromwich Albion would be better off keeping Jay Rodriguez than Salomon Rondon.

West Bromwich Albion fans may have reason to hope that Salomon Rondon departs this summer, after a report in the Express and Star claimed that Jay Rodriguez will be sold if the Venezuelan stays.

West Brom want to keep either Rodriguez or Rondon, and there is an argument to suggest that the former would be a better option for them in the Championship.

Rondon has a great deal of quality, and the interest from Premier League sides in his services show just how highly he is rated.

However, at Championship level, Rodriguez could arguably be the biggest goalscoring threat in the division.

If there is one weakness to Rondon’s game, it is his lack of ruthlessness in front of goal.

Rodriguez does not suffer the same problems though, and his form towards the back end of last campaign shows that he could score prolifically in the second tier.

If West Brom can keep hold of Rodriguez they will be one of the most feared teams in the Championship, and that should be their priority this summer, even if it means sacrificing Rondon.
