Sturridge joined West Bromwich Albion on loan from Liverpool on Monday.

Daniel Sturridge came off the bench to make his West Bromwich Albion debut at Manchester City on Wednesday, little more than 48 hours since joining on loan from Liverpool.
Sturridge hadn’t played a competitive match since Liverpool’s 7-0 defeat of Spartak Moscow at the start of December, but was thrown into action by new boss Alan Pardew with 12 minutes of normal time remaining at the Etihad Stadium.
There were a couple of neat touches, but understandably, too, some rustiness – such as when the England striker raced clear of City’s last defender, only to see one finish blocked and the rebound nestle into the outside side-netting.

Those were, however, West Brom’s first and second of three attempts on goal and – despite conceding a third goal seconds later – many Baggies supporters were encouraged by what they saw from Sturridge.
According to some, the 28-year-old should start from the off against Southampton this weekend – and is already better than his £15.3 million teammate, Salomon Rondon.
This is what West Brom fans are saying on Twitter about Sturridge’s debut…
West Brom’s 3-0 defeat leaves them four points adrift at the foot of the Premier League ahead of Saturday’s bottom-of-the table clash at the Hawthorns.
