West Bromwich Albion endured a difficult night at Bristol City.

West Bromwich Albion’s slim hopes of sneaking back into the automatic promotion race have been ended after a 3-2 defeat at Bristol City on Tuesday night.
The Baggies lost at Millwall over the weekend to all but end their hopes of a top two finish, and they’re definitely over after losing at Ashton Gate.
James Shan remains in caretaker charge after the sacking of Darren Moore, which looks increasingly bizarre after a torrid Baggies showing.
Slack play from Jake Liveremore allowed Josh Brownhill to strike the opener, before Brownhill teed up Andreas Weimann for 2-0, and Jack Hunt racked up a third inside the first 20 minutes.
West Brom rallied after the break as Dwight Gayle pulled one back, and Jay Rodriguez set up a tense finale by making it 3-2 – but Bristol City held out for the win.
Their play-off place should still be safe, but with managerial confusion and a couple of shambolic defeats, West Brom fans would be forgiven for being a little frustrated after last night’s display.

A number of players took a battering on Twitter during and after the game, with left back Conor Townsend – a £750,000 summer signing from Scunthorpe United (Birmingham Mail) – being slated.
The 26-year-old was making just a ninth Championship start of the season in place of Kieran Gibbs, and Baggies fans blasted Townsend’s display, feeling even a half-fit Gibbs would have been an improvement.
Others called for scouts to be sacked for signing Townsend, branding the defender ‘horrific’ and ‘terrible’, though he was just one of a number of poor performers on the night.
