West Brom’s stance on Tom Fellows sale explained, Southampton have made an approach

West Bromwich Albion’s stance on Tom Fellows departing the Hawthorns has been explained this summer.

Carlos Corberan’s West Bromwich Albion have started this season very well, despite the Baggies not having much money to play with this summer as they bid to return to the Premier League for the first time since the COVID-19 affected 2020/21 season.

West Brom have seven points from their opening nine available in the EFL Championship and a key part of this good start to the season has been the result of the impact made by one star.

Baggies academy graduate Tom Fellows has had an electric start to the season with three assists to his name and this has naturally led to interest from the Premier League.

West Brom’s stance on Fellows sale explained

HITC understands that Premier League club Southampton have made an approach to West Brom over the signing of Fellows, with just days remaining before the window slams shut.

Russell Martin’s Southampton have certainly been busy in the transfer market with the South Coast side hoping they can remain in the Premier League this season.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Flynn Downes, Cameron Archer and Ben Bereton Diaz have been some of the signings that Southampton have made and the club are keen on signing Fellows from West Brom.

However, sources have told HITC that West Brom are not keen on doing business with the Saints with just days remaining before the summer transfer window slams shut. Fellows could be the key for Albion if they are to be in the play-off picture come May.

Corberan keen to praise brilliant Fellows

Last season, Fellows made 39 appearances in all competitions for Albion and he scored five goals and provided four assists.

In the early stages of this season, Fellows has already made three assists and has looked brilliant for Corberan’s side and the Albion manager was keen to praise the 21-year-old following a 2-1 win against Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium.

“Nothing Tom Fellows does on the pitch is going to surprise me or surprise us because we know his quality as a footballer,” Corberan remarked to the Express & Star.

With just over 48 hours remaining in the summer transfer window, West Brom will be keen to hold onto the Englishman as they hope to make a return to the Premier League.
