West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen to sign Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho. The potential move will pave the way for Crystal Palace to land Kevin Wimmer.
Both Crystal Palace and West Brom are keen to sign one central defender before the transfer deadline day.
And interestingly both have common targets – Mamadou Sakho and Kevin Wimmer.
Sakho, who spent time on loan at Crystal Palace last season, has remained sidelined all summer long and is not in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.
He has no future at Anfield, and the best case scenario for Liverpool is to pick up a big fee for him this summer.
Palace have made an attempt to sign Sakho, but Liverpool’s £30 million claim has been way too much for them.
According to The Independent, they’re still in the hunt for the French defender, but could lose their top target to Premier League rivals West Ham.
The Baggies are ready to make a £30 million offer for the Frenchman, as reported by The Telegraph, as a replacement for the outgoing Johnny Evans, who is a target of Manchester City.
Liverpool would be more than willing to sell Sakho to West Brom, should they receive such a hefty transfer fee.
If Sakho moves to West Brom, it will clear the path for Palace to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer.
It is highly unlikely West Brom will splash £45 million on two defenders, and so Palace would be the more likely destination for the Austrian defender.
