Burnley are reportedly interested in signing the West Bromwich Albion winger.

Sean Dyche, Manager of Burnley looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley at Wembley Stadium on August 27, 2017 in London, England.

Sean Dyche’s Burnley side have been quite simply superb this season, but the real hard work will start in the summer, if they want to once again make progress next season and challenge for the European places.

According to the Express & Star, one of Dyche’s primary targets this summer is West Brom winger Matt Phillips, and the 27-year-old would be a superb addition to the Clarets squad.

Phillips joined the Baggies from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £5.5 million, and he has impressed at the Hawthorns on the whole, despite enduring a difficult campaign this term.

The Scotland international possesses exceptional technical ability, and his eye for a goal would certainly help provide an added level of potency to Burnley’s attacking play.

Sean Dyche possesses one of the smallest squads in the top flight, and added competition in the wide attacking areas will be a necessity for the Clarets, if they are to maintain their incredible recent rise to prominence.

Phillips can play anywhere along the front-line, and that kind of versatility could prove to be vital to Burnley next season, during what will be another long and physically punishing campaign.

Quite how much the Clarets will have to pay for the 27-year-old is unclear, but if Dyche does manage to bring him to Turf Moor this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Burnley.
