The West Bromwich Albion player looked back to his best at the weekend.
James Morrison often divides opinion among West Bromwich Albion supporters but there is no doubt he was vital for the Baggies in their 2-1 victory against Leicester City last weekend.
The Scotland international has struggled for game time this season, with West Brom manager Tony Pulis using him sparingly from the bench.
However, against Leicester the 30-year-old started in an advanced midfield role and was chomping at the bit to prove he is worthy of a regular starting spot.
Whether it is enough to convince Pulis of that remains to be seen, but the Baggies boss would be smart to allow Morrison the chance to prove this was not a one off and was instead a sign of a player intent on proving his doubters – and his manager – wrong.
Morrison can be a miss as much as a hit out on the field, yet it seems his spell out of the team has prompted a rethink; at least if his showing against Leicester is anything to go by.
West Brom are proving to be quite a force this season and Nacer Chadli will not be overlooked given his superb recent form.
That said Pulis could use the latest international break to figure out how to get the best from both players as long as they are both on form.
