Southampton should consider a move for the West Bromwich Albion ace this summer.
Mark Hughes has a lot of work to do at Southampton this summer, if he is to build a squad of players who can push for a top 10 finish in the Premier League next season.
The Saints endured a miserable campaign last term, and eventually finished in 17th spot in the table, just three points clear of the relegation places.
One particular area where Hughes will undoubtedly want to strengthen this summer is his wide attacking department, with more competition required for the likes of Dusan Tadic and Nathan Redmond.
With this in mind, they should consider a move for West Brom man James McClean, with the Irishman facing an uncertain future at the Hawthorns.
The 29-year-old winger joined the Baggies from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £1.5 million, and he has since gone on to establish himself as a consistent Premier League performer.
McClean’s quality is underlined by his 59 international caps for the Republic of Ireland, and his direct style of play combined with100 per cent commitment would surely prove to be a useful asset for Southampton.
According to the Derby Telegraph, West Brom will demand around £6 million for the 29-year-old, and in today’s day and age, that would represent excellent value for the Saints.
