Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson.

The Baggies look to be in serious danger of being relegated from the Premier League this season. Alan Pardew’s men are currently bottom of the table, 10 points off safety with just seven games to go, so it is certainly looking bleak for West Brom.

Should they go down, they can expect interest in a number of their players it seems. And one of those players attracting attention is Dawson, with the two promotion chasers after his signature.
Dawson may not be the flashiest player on the market, but he has arguably been one of West Brom’s most reliable performers this term and would be a very good addition to Tony Pulis’ or Steve Bruce’s sides. And for Villa, he may prove to be a very good replacement for John Terry given that he has previously played alongside Terry’s usual centre-back partner at Villa Park.
James Chester spent one season on West Brom’s books before completing a £9 million switch to Villa in 2016 – fee reported by the Daily Mail – and for much of that time with the Baggies, he lined up in the same back four as Dawson.

The Daily Mirror reported at the weekend that Terry is out of contract with Villa at the end of the season. And while there may be a scope for a further deal, Bruce is making a smart move by considering replacing him.
Dawson is a dependable, versatile option in the defence, and he may be a very decent replacement for Terry if the Premier League great does move on at the end of the campaign – and his previous experience of playing alongside Chester may help him settle in quicker if he does end upVilla Park-bound.
