West Bromwich Albion’s Alan Pardew is now 4/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post, with bookmakers Sky Bet. That puts the 56-year-old third in the betting, behind Chelsea’s Antonio Conte and Southampton’s Mauricio Pellegrino, who are 8/11 and 11/4 respectively.
Pardew had been 11/1 on Friday morning, but has seen his odds cut to almost half in a matter of hours, coinciding with reports of an incident involving four West Brom players during a club trip to Barcelona this week.
It comes just days after John Williams and Martin Goodman, who are believed to have overseen Pardew’s appointment last November, were removed from their positions as chairman and chief executive respectively.
The former Southampton manager was brought in with West Brom 17th in the Premier League, but has seen them drop to the foot of the table – and seven points adrift of safety – after a run of just one win 13 matches.
Nevertheless, the Telegraph reported after the sackings of Williams and Goodman that Pardew’s job was safe for the time being.
Southampton – who finished eighth last season – sit two places above their old boss in 18th position, but are only a point behind the three teams directly above them.
And Conte’s future remains in doubt, despite leading Chelsea back into the top four with a 3-0 win against West Brom on Monday.
