The West Bromwich Albion defender celebrated his return to the training field this week.

Young West Bromwich Albion centre-back Callam Jones has taken to Twitter to celebrate his return to training after a long-term injury.

The 20-year-old has been side-lined for the last 18 months but he finally got back on the training field on Tuesday as he bids to ultimately force his way into Tony Pulis’s first-team plans.

Jones signed his first professional contract at The Hawthorns in May 2014 after coming through the club’s academy, but despite impressing at under-21 level he is yet to make his senior debut for the Baggies.

Predominantly a centre-back, Jones can also play as a holding midfielder if required, and that versatility should serve him well in the years ahead. However this season it will be all about regaining his match fitness, with a few outings for the under-21s possible before the summer.

From there he will no doubt be hoping to get a good pre-season behind him and who knows, a West Brom debut could be on the cards.

The Baggies are currently 14th in the Premier League, eight points clear of the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.
