West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Alex Mowatt on a free transfer this summer, according to The Athletic.

The former Leeds United midfielder’s contract at Barnsley runs out at the end of the month.
Barnsley have reportedly made an offer to the 26-year-old, who has interest from a number of clubs in the Championship.
New West Brom manager Valerien Ismael worked with Mowatt at Barnsley.
The Baggies are reportedly ‘the favourites’ to sign the English midfielder, described as a “gem” by Derby County defender Curtis Davies on Sky Sports in May.

Ismael worked with Mowatt at Barnsley last season.
It is clear that the newly-appointed West Brom boss rates the former Leeds man highly.
The 26-year-old scored eight goals and gave seven assists in 46 Championship matches for Barnsley last season.
Ismael played Mowatt in central midfield, and his goals and assists return from that position was very good indeed.
Mowatt would make West Brom better in the middle of the park and would enhance the Baggies’ chances of finishing in the Championship top two.
