Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told the Hertfordshire Mercury that strikers must score goals after Vincent Janssen fired another blank against West Bromwich Albion.
Spurs travelled to The Hawthorns this afternoon in search of three points having closed the gap to Premier League leaders Manchester City to just one point two weeks ago.
Mauricio Pochetino’s men dominated proceedings, but looked like being hit with a sucker punch as Nacer Chadli – sold by Spurs in August – haunted his former club by opening the scoring with just eight minutes to play.

However, Tottenham did hit back and kept their unbeaten record going as Dele Alli struck in the 89th minute to rescue a point for Pochettino’s men.
The result keeps Tottenham a point off top spot, but does drop them down to third place in the Premier League table after a frustrating afternoon in the Midlands, where Spurs didn’t get the goals their dominance merited.

Fans may point to striker Vincent Janssen as part of that problem, as the Dutchman again failed to find the net, meaning he has played almost 400 minutes of Premier League action without scoring.
The Dutchman endured a slow start at AZ Alkmaar too, but it’s something of a concern that Janssen’s wait for a Premier League goal goes on and on – and manager Pochettino was asked about Janssen’s display after the game.

Speaking to the Hertfordshire Mercury, Pochettino stated that he was happy with Janssen’s performance, but acknowledged that striker must score goals; something Janssen hasn’t done in the Premier League since joining in the summer.
“He was good. He participated a lot but a striker always needs to score,” said Pochettino. “Today he had some chances but I’m happy with his performance today,” he added.
