Wolves are set to sign Willy Boly.

HITC Sport understands Wolves are close to completing a loan move for Porto defender Willy Boly.

The centre-back has agreed to a move and is set to arrive along with a big money deal for Ruben Neves.

But Boly was very nearly playing for another Black Country club.

The Mirror reported on August 31 last year that West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis was attempting to sign Boly from Braga, and valued him at £4 million.

The Baggies were aware of interest from Porto in the Frenchman, and lost out to the Portuguese giants in the race for his signature.

Boly’s availability this summer is an indication that his first at Porto did not go to plan.

He made only seven league appearances and a season out on loan is his best prospect of first team football.

West Brom were not left wishing they had signed the 26-year-old Frenchman, but Boly now has a chance to make a name for himself in English, and show that Wolves have bagged a real bargain.
