West Bromwich Albion are taking a look at the 22-year-old, who rose to prominence with a goal in the FA Cup third round.

Stourbridge boss Gary Hackett has confirmed that West Brom have handed young defender Dan Scarr a trial and that the non-league side would not stand in his way if an offer was put on the table, the Express and Star reports.

The 22-year-old rose to prominence when he scored the seventh tier side’s equaliser during their FA Cup third round clash with Wycombe Wanderers last weekend, before their League Two opponents secured a late winner to knock out the lowest ranked team previously left in the competition.

And the Express and Star suggests that the Baggies were impressed by Scarr’s development, and Hackett – who spent three years at the Hawthorns during his playing days – has suggested that they have decided to take a closer look.

“We’ve had enquiries about Dan from a number of clubs, and West Brom have asked to take a look at him. He’s gone over there with our blessing and we’ll see what develops. The ball is in their court,” he said, as reported by the Express and Star.

“Dan is under contract with us at the present time, but I’d like to think we wouldn’t stand in the way of any player progressing.

“Dan’s been playing really well lately and it’s no surprise one or two people are taking notice.”

According to the Express and Star, Scarr has been training with the first-team, so that may perhaps suggest that Tony Pulis is considering a move fairly seriously at least.

And Baggies fans will be hoping that if he does end up signing for West Brom, he will be the first of many before the window shuts as they will surely feel that their hopes of maintaining their current position in the Premier League may depend on the kind of business they do this month.
