West Bromwich Albion have begun their Championship campaign in mixed fashion.
West Brom stopper Sam Johnstone urged the Baggies faithful to be patient with the team, when speaking exclusively to the Express & Star, insisting that they will click as a unit sooner rather than later.
Darren Moore’s side have began life in the Championship in mixed fashion, taking four points from their opening three games, and they have looked far from assured at the back, shipping six goals thus far.
West Brom were heavily tipped for promotion at the start of the season, but they have looked far from invincible so far this term.
Johnstone, who joined the Baggies from Manchester United for £6.5 million this summer, pleaded with the West Brom fans to be patient with him and his teammates, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“That will only come with games. I’m new, Kyle Bartley’s new, we’re trying to get used to playing with everyone else. Conor (Townsend) is new at left-back. Bare with us and we will click. There’s a lot of games, hopefully we get into a rhythm of winning and get promotion at the end of the season.”
The Black Country outfit welcome Queens Park Rangers to the Hawthorns tomorrow, and Johnstone will be looking for his first clean sheet of the season.
The Championship is notoriously tough to get out of, and West Brom will need to start winning games consistently, if they are to have any chance of earning promotion back to the Premier League.
