West Bromwich Albion have taken Jason Lowe on trial following his release from Blackburn Rovers.
According to a report from the Express and Star, Jason Lowe is taking part in a trial with West Brom and featured in a pre-season friendly.
Judging by the fact that the Baggies were linked by the Daily Mail with the former Blackburn captain back in January, it certainly appears that the versatile midfielder – he played at right-back in the friendly – is in with a chance of earning a permanent contract at the Hawthorns.

And while his ability to play in a number of positions would certainly make him a great signing for a West Brom squad that desperately needs numbers, Tony Pulis would surely be making a mistake if he thought that the job of strengthening the midfield is done if he decides to sign the 25-year-old.
Lowe is a solid player, and would surely perform the utility role well, but he is surely not the midfield signing that will fill the void that Darren Fletcher has left behind.
The Birmingham Mail reported last month that Fabian Delph was on the club’s radar, while the Daily Mirror suggested in May that a move for £25 million-rated William Carvalho was also being considered.
Signing Lowe therefore, who was relegated from the Championship last term and has struggled with injury in recent seasons, would surely be underwhelming especially if Pulis ultimately deems him to be the only answer necessary to West Brom’s lack of depth in the middle of the park.
