West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on signing the Colombian midfielder.

According to a report from respected Italian football journalist Alfredo Pedulla, West Brom are eyeing a swoop for Fiorentina midfielder Carlos Sanchez, but the Baggies should be wary of bringing the ageing Colombian to the Hawthorns this summer.

Sanchez, 32, spent an unsuccessful three year spell with Aston Villa, after moving to Villa Park from Elche in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £4.7 million, and considering the fact that he is now four years older, there is no reason to believe that he would have any more luck this time around.

The Colombia international left Villa on loan when things got tough, after they were relegated to the Championship, and that kind of attitude is the last thing that West Brom need in England’s second tier this season.

Darren Moore will need everyone to be on the same page this season, if he is to guide his Baggies side to promotion back to the Premier League, and it is debatable whether Sanchez possesses the work-rate and tenacity required to succeed in the Championship.

With just one more day remaining until tomorrow’s 5pm deadline, West Brom will have to get down to business asap, if they want to add to their squad, but in saying that, they might just be best served in avoiding a move for Carlos Sanchez.
