West Bromwich Albion should perhaps try their luck as Middlesbrough strengthen their striker options.
According to a report from the Daily Mirror, West Brom are ready to cash in on Salomon Rondon if they receive a decent offer for the Venezuelan. Before that news emerged, it was surely fair to suggest that the Baggies already needed to bolster their striker options so their need will arguably be much greater if Rondon leaves the Hawthorns.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough appear set to go into the new Championship season with more than enough fire-power up front to perhaps put them into the promotion race, with The Sun confirming that Martin Braithwaite has now signed while Britt Assombalonga remains on their radar.
West Brom manager Tony Pulis needs to bolster his attacking options
With so many goalscorers on the books, Garry Monk may perhaps be open to considering letting one of the forwards who joined the club before his arrival leave the Riverside Stadium during this window.
And it was one of those forwards who was on West Brom’s radar before he joined Boro in January. The Guardian reported at the time that Tony Pulis wanted Rudy Gestede, so perhaps the Baggies should revive their interest and try their luck in the hope that Monk allows the 28-year-old to move on.
Gestede has not exactly been prolific over the last couple of seasons, but you cannot help but feel that the style of football that Tony Pulis has been synonymous with may help play to the Benin international’s strengths.
Signing Gestede may perhaps give West Brom some additional versatility going forward, and if Monk decides that his summer signings push the former Cardiff and Aston Villa man down the pecking order, then perhaps he may be more willing to cash in this summer as being destined for a spell on the sidelines may see his value drop over the coming months.
