West Bromwich Albion have been linked with being interested in Fabian Delph and James McCarthy.
According to a recent report from the Sunday People (print edition; 23rd July 2017; pg. 51), West Brom remain interested in Everton’s James McCarthy who the Toffees want £25 million for.
The report also suggests that the Baggies would only be looking to pay £15 million for the 26-year-old. But even if a compromise is eventually met, surely West Brom are making a mistake targeting McCarthy if they have any chance of signing Fabian Delph.

According to the Daily Star, Delph is free to leave Manchester City this summer – with a £10 million move to Stoke City appearing to be the most likely outcome, despite the Baggies’ interest.
If Tony Pulis has any chance of bringing Delph to the Hawthorns, he simply needs to temporarily halt the club’s interest in McCarthy and focus all of his energy on convincing the former Aston Villa and Leeds man to join the Baggies.
Both players have struggled with injury in recent times yet both have the talent to become important players for West Brom if they are able to enjoy some luck when it comes to their fitness.
And with Delph seemingly available for £15 million less than McCarthy, and still £5 million less even if Everton decide to allow the latter to leave at West Brom’s valuation, the Baggies simply have to do everything they can until his future is decided once and for all to try and tempt the Englishman to join them.
