West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers are both keen on Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe, according to reports.
According to a recent report from The Sun, West Brom and Wolves are both interested in taking advantage of Bournemouth’s willingness to sell Benik Afobe and are considering making January bids for the striker.
Afobe has endured a difficult time since he moved to the Vitality Stadium, scoring just 10 Premier League goals in over 50 top flight games for the Cherries and having struggled with injury during his time on the south coast.
The Sun suggests that both Wolves and the Baggies are keen on Afobe, who is likely to be available for around £12 million – but perhaps Tony Pulis’ men should consider leaving the path clear for the Championship side to bag his signature.
West Brom do not have the biggest collection of strikers in their ranks, so it is no surprise that Tony Pulis is keen on signing a new forward, but it is surely questionable whether Afobe is the missing piece of the jigsaw for West Brom.
The likes of Salomon Rondon, Hal Robson-Kanu and Jay Rodriguez have contributed the odd goal this term, so it is perhaps a marquee striker signing that is going to take the Baggies to another level.
And while Afobe was extremely impressive during his time in the Championship with Wolves before he secured his move to Bournemouth, there have surely got to be question marks over whether he could justify the fee and establish himself as the focal point of the Baggies attack if he did arrive at The Hawthorns, so perhaps Pulis should look to save the £12 million and consider putting it towards a game-changing signing.
