West Bromwich Albion have missed out on Bournemouth defender Steve Cook as he has signed a new contract at the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth’s Steve Cook has seemingly snubbed West Brom’s interest by signing a new deal with the Cherries
According to a report from the Daily Mail from back in March, West Brom wanted to sign Bournemouth defender Steve Cook and were considering making a £7 million bid for the 26-year-old.
However, with the Cherries confirming on their official website that Cook has signed a new deal at the Vitality Stadium that is set to see him stay until 2021, Tony Pulis now has to consider other options.

One player who should arguably be on their radar is Barnsley centre-back Marc Roberts after his tremendous campaign in the Championship, which saw the 26-year-old help the newly-promoted Tykes register a safe mid-table finish and contribute four goals and three assists along the way in the league.
Roberts is attracting Aston Villa’s attention (via Sheffield Star), but the Baggies would surely be the more appealing option if they joined the race given their Premier League status.
Should the Baggies try and sign Barnsley’s Marc Roberts?
The former Halifax Town man has been able to adapt at whatever level he has played at, having been playing non-league football until moving to Oakwell in 2015.
And having demonstrated plenty of leadership with Barnsley – he became the club’s captain following Conor Hourihane’s departure in January – he appears to have the kind of attributes that would help the Baggies during this period of potential transition as Pulis looks to lower the average age of his squad.
Pulis may be disappointed to miss out on Cook given his Premier League experience, but moving for Roberts would arguably be a wise alternative.
