West Bromwich Albion should challenge Swansea City for Tottenham Hotspur’s Tom Carroll.
The Sun have been reporting that Swansea City are preparing a £10 million bid for Spurs midfielder Tom Carroll in January.
The 24-year-old has seen his first-team opportunities limited of late, after the arrival of Victor Wanyama in the summer, and the emergence of Harry Winks.
His future will most likely be away from White Hart Lane, and the qualities that he possesses should ensure that the Swans are not the only club interested in signing him.
Tottenham’s Tom Carroll in action
West Bromwich Albion are a side who, despite possessing plenty of hard working midfielders, lack that little bit of quality in the middle of the park, and they should seriously consider challenging Swansea in the race to sign Carroll.
The Spurs man has managed just two starts for Mauricio Pochettino’s men so far this term – both of those coming in the EFL Cup, and at the age he is now, he must be looking for regular first-team football, to help aid his development.
From Carroll’s point of view, a move to the Hawthorns would surely make more sense than a switch to the Liberty Stadium, with the Baggies currently sitting comfortably in 10th position in the Premier League table, just four points behind sixth-placed Manchester United.
Tottenham’s Tom Carroll
Swansea, on the other hand, are really struggling, and are deeply entrenched in a relegation battle.
Would Carroll risk moving to a club who could be playing in the Championship next season?
Tony Pulis should assess his options, and realise that he needs someone in the middle of the park who is comfortable in possession, much like the Spurs man, and enter the race to sign him in January.
