The Wolverhampton Wanderers defender is allegedly surplus to requirements but he could be a fine addition to West Bromwich Albion’s squad.
According to a recent claim from the Mirror, Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa could be allowed to leave the club this summer and West Bromwich Albion should seriously consider making a move.
The 22-year-old is predominantly a right-back although he can also play as a centre-back if required, and with the Baggies in need of defensive reinforcements, Iorfa could be the perfect long-term investment.
It would be easy to right off Iorfa as a young footballer who has simply not justified the initial hype, yet he would be a risk well worth taking for a West Brom side looking very much on the up under manager Tony Pulis.
Despite his young age, the England under-21 international has already racked up 93 senior appearances for Wolves after coming through the ranks at Molineux, and if he is pushed out after a busy summer of signings he is likely to have plenty of suitors.
With the build and the innate ability to ultimately excel in the top flight, West Brom should make their move before someone else does, with Pulis making no secret of his desire for defensive reinforcements and the Baggies’ top flight rivals making swift moves of their own.
Iorfa started last season as Wolves’ first-choice right-back before falling out of favour and he needs a club where his talent can now be further nurtured and ultimately taken to the next level.
If West Brom moved for the defender it may not be one of the summer’s more headline-worthy deals but it could prove to be one of the smartest.
