West Bromwich Albion are said to be interested in the Ghana international.
According to the Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion are one of the clubs interested in signing Edwin Gyasi from Aalesund next month. However the Baggies should be aiming higher than a 26-year-old who has hardly pulled up trees during a journeyman career.
The Ghana international has already featured for six clubs since turning professional and, while he is rated at just £600,000 (plus add-ons) by his current side, it is a risk simply not worth taking for a West Brom side that needs ready-made solutions not risky experiments.
Alan Pardew needs players that know the Premier League as he bids to guide West Brom out of the relegation zone and back into the top half of the table.
While Gyasi is a decent enough option on paper, he is little more than that, with his current club the only one to benefit from double figures when it comes to goals.
Aside from his 12 goals in 57 appearances for Aalesund, the West Brom target’s best return was four goals and two assists in 38 games for Roda JC.
In short, Gyasi is neither prolific nor talented enough to solve West Brom’s current problem, and the Baggies need to look elsewhere with the transfer window opening in just a few hours.
