Saido Berahino has been told by West Bromwich Albion he will not be leaving the club on transfer deadline day, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Berahino’s future at West Brom has been the subject of speculation again this summer with the player turning down a new deal at The Hawthorns.

West Brom managed to keep hold of Berahino last summer and in the January transfer window, and with the striker now entering the final year of his contract, they were hoping to secure his services by offering him a four-year extension that would make him the highest-paid player at the club, but the player rejected the offer.

Stoke have seen a couple of bids for Berahino rejected this summer and it was suggested they may come back with a new offer before the transfer window closes on Wednesday, but it appears they have now decided to sign Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony instead.

However, West Brom have informed Berahino any move for the striker is off as they have been unable to bring in a replacement and that he will remain at The Hawthorns.

As a result of West Brom’s stance, Berahino is set to run down the final year of his contract and leave to go abroad next summer on a free transfer or sign a pre-contract in January.
