West Bromwich Albion attacker Reyes Cleary is wanted by Arsenal and Newcastle United – and he has now bagged another two goals.
The Baggies have seen the likes of Izzy Brown, Yan Dhanda and Jerome Sinclair walk out of their youth ranks in recent memory.
Add in that left back Lino Sousa left West Brom for a move to Arsenal in January and you can understand them feeling a little concerned about Cleary’s future.
Cleary, 17, is an exciting young striker with a huge future ahead of him, but he should maybe look at the careers of Brown, Dhanda and Sinclair.
None of them have really lived up to their potential and Cleary won’t want to head the same way.
The Daily Mail reported in March that Arsenal are battling the likes of Everton, Newcastle, Bayern Munich and Southampton for Cleary.
Add in interest from Bayer Leverkusen and Red Bull Salzburg and Cleary is a talent in demand ahead of the summer.
With Cleary yet to sign a professional deal at West Brom, the Baggies are open to losing the striker, who turns 18 today.
Cleary has scored so many goals that it’s now unclear how many he’s actually bagged!
The Mail’s reported last month claimed he had reached 30 goals, but across Premier League 2, Under-18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup games it’s now 25 goals in just 28 games.
Cleary added two goals on Tuesday, scoring twice in a thumping 5-1 win for West Brom’s Under-18’s against Leicester City.
The teenager just can’t stop scoring and it’s no surprise that Arsenal are looking towards Cleary as a potential signing.
Following Sousa could be appealing, and he could join Folarin Balogun, Mika Biereth and Khayon Edwards in giving Arsenal exciting striking options for the future.
