Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in Nathan Ferguson, who has shone in the Championship with West Bromwich Albion.

Crystal Palace’s interest in Nathan Ferguson has seemingly forced West Bromwich Albion into action with the Express and Star claiming that the young full-back has now been offered a new contract.

The Sun (22 September, page 61) reported that Palace have identified the 19-year-old as a potential replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka with Roy Hodgson short of quality options on the right hand side.

Ferguson has only made seven first-team appearances for The Baggies, all coming in the current Championship campaign, with the teenager impressing both on the right and the left of Slaven Bilic’s defence.

But with his contract due to expire at the end of the season and with interest emerging from the Premier League, West Brom are now taking steps to ensure that they don’t lose Ferguson in the new year.

The report claims that West Brom are ‘determined’ to keep Ferguson at the Hawthorns and they are due to hold further talks next week after putting a new long-term deal on the table.

The Midland giants are fourth in the table after eight games, sitting just a point adrift of league-leaders Leeds United, and Ferguson is set to play a key role as Bilic plans to lead the Baggies back to the Premier League.

Why would he leave so soon?
