West Brom host Brighton at the weekend looking to follow up their FA Cup win by securing their first victory in the Premier League since August and gain some ground on the teams just outside the bottom three.
The Baggies beat Exeter City 2-0 to secure their spot in the fourth round of the competition and provide some respite after a miserable run in the league that has seen Alan Pardew’s men go 20 games without a victory.
They are now four points off safety and will be looking at their home game against the Seagulls as the ideal fixture to get back on track given that Chris Hughton’s men are certainly not out of the woods and their own recent form has been underwhelming.
With no new signings through the door at The Hawthorns, Pardew has not got many opportunities to be creative with his team selection. But one boost he may perhaps have is the return of Jonny Evans after he missed the cup win due to injury.
Speculation persists regarding the 30-year-old’s future, but if Pardew has him available, he will surely throw him straight back in given his importance to the team.
Meanwhile, Allan Nyom comes into the side on the left in place of Kieran Gibbs who had to be replaced just 12 minutes in at Exeter, and perhaps Jake Livermore will return to the starting lineup in place of Grzegorz Krychowiak.
With Rondon and Rodriguez scoring in the cup, it would perhaps make sense to keep faith with the pair and leave Hal Robson-Kanu on the bench.
